Poetry contest online: http://www.poetry.com/Iq/index.asp
Short trivia competition plus a 20-line poem. Too bad it's a scam.

If anyone is interested in sharing poetry, we can "comment" our poems to each other. I will, naturally, be enforcing a strict no-critisicm rule. :)

Good news, everybody. I have a place to live next year! It's the same place as last year, of course, with a different room and a different phone number (you'd think they'd expect me by now and just leave me in one spot, but I suppose variety is good for me). Anyone who wants that info, plus my move-in date should drop a line and I'll send out an e-mail to interested parties.

Also, anyone who likes science fiction should go see I, Robot. Finally a SciFi movie that doesn't break its own rules for the sake of an Hollywood ending. And yes, MT, I know it's not what Asimov wrote, but it does stay in the spirit of the book, and that's what makes it so good. (Not as good as the book, but better than alot of other movies.)

New plans. Today was lunch with MT (yay for last minute phone call arrangements - lol) and will be I, Robot and dinner with mom.

Tomorrow is Shaolin Soccer with MT, Bubbles, Phalse, and L @ 9:30pm. No dinner.

Thursday is lunch with J and not Bubbles, who has an appointment with a plumber.

Spiderman2 is maybe never, but almost definitely not with a big group because schedules are impossible.

MT, did you pick up Air on G?

My goodness, I was both productive AND coherant today. Very surprising and unusual for me, particularly on a Monday. Even more surprising during a cross-over week (where one person comes back from vacation and another goes on vacation at the same time). Now I get to go home and play with Angus and Bink.

Phalse, can you please PLEASE find that cd for me?!! Solitare gets boring. Thanks. *grin*

Bubbles, Phalse, and MotivatedTea, don't forget dinner and movie on Wed. 4:45 in the lobby of my building. If that's a problem, you have to tell me now, so I can figure out other arrangements.

Other plans for the week: I, Robot with mom tomorrow after work. Lunch with J Thursday at 12 (and Bubbles, unless she remembers whatever appointment she forgot that she had at that time).

Went to a party. Talked alot, ate some, drank a little. Got my lunchbox back and a mouse for MT. Will have pictures eventually, so leave a comment if you weren't there and want some.

Hey, Bubbles! My mouse is cuter than your mouse. Nyeah nyeah. *grin*

I have another task for creative minds. I seem to have picked up another stalker (lucky me) who has written a rather odd letter, despite my not speaking to him for four years, and before that only saying maybe four words to him. (My parents used to drive him back from rehearsals -- we were in the same orchestra but he was an older, extremely creepy wind player whom I had no desire to meet.) I have included exerpts from the letter below. I suspect that I am going to have to write back a letter which isn't mean (since he is creepy enough that I don't think I should make him mad) but which makes it clear that I will NOT be "renewing" acquaintance with him. *ick ick ick ick*

Exerpts from creepy stalker dude's letter*:
"Did not you and I assume, dispite being in K----ton, that an inevidability would not be availing ourselves to see each other?...

I thought in any event, with my one call back to Toronto, may have been ill-timed, if not felt a likewise regenerative production to convey to me as mere necessity, that then can see perhaps, not fitting into the picture with you here; Leo's love luxuries and to avail myself of your presence here, to do chamber music, might have been a disappointment for you. In taking advantage of you here socially would be less to our advantage for say, whatever gains we might be interested in...

To in which expecting a correspondence back from you, perhaps would be in for an age competency to prove: myself being older as to your being not experienced enough motivated for me, as apposed to your side of the arguement if involved, proving me wrong because of my lack of friends and for perhaps iniciatives of your own, which involve competency for friends yourself. This for me is on an anachronistic par similar to Franz Berwald's in music. A level in music for which we both can relate I hope this letter doesn't mean the end of."

*Spelling/grammar mistakes due to creepy stalker dude not knowing how to spell.

In a recent e-mail conversation with Bubbles, we ended up with a typo which turned into a bit of a game. The phrase "golf is boring" was mis-typed and became "gold if boring." The game is that you have to figure out what "gold if boring" is really supposed to mean:

Translation #1: If gold is boring, then I'm a monkey's uncle.
Translation #2: They changed the name of the sport before I got to the end of the sentence.
Translation #3: The Aesop ending to the story of King Midos.

Translation #4: ?

(Fill in the question mark. Creativity is encouraged.)

Note to self: dinner with Kiara and family 6:30. Don't forget 68. ;)

My computer is now paid for (well, a bit of it is on credit, but I'll pay that bill tomorrow when it shows up and then it will be paid for)! It's going to be tiny and light and have a decent amount of memory/speed/etc.  and MT and I got them to throw in a free USB mouse. Then I bought MS Office. Again. Stupid MS. But got a really cheap USB key thrown in, which is going to MT because I already have one.

In other news, I finally got the Brampton courts to do something about the file I've been waiting for. They're sending it via taxi tomorrow morning. Lots of shipping going on, since my computer is supposed to be ready for pickup Wed at the latests.

I had lunch with Kiara, as mentioned in my previous comments section. Fun fun fun. Either she looks the same, or I have a very bad visual memory. (Possibly both. lol.)

Oh yeah. And we now have no floor in the 2nd "floor" bathroom. Hopefully we will eventually have one again, since there's been alot of deconstructing going on but no noticeable constructing.

... aaand my social activity continues to increase at alarming rates. :)

Went to dim sum, as planned with Bubbles and MT, where we ate an amazing quantity of shrimp in various forms, plus I got my vermicelli beef. Mmmm. That was followed by a trip to Chapters, where I bought books, even though I said I wasn't going to buy anymore books this month. Bought a cynic's dictionary, which I will have to quote from soon.

We parted ways by about 7 or 8, with MT going home and Bubbles and me meeting up with Phalse. Took a short run to the new house, followed by a trip to blockbusters and a supermarket for movies and snacks, which we watched at the old place. Slept on a very comfy couch from about 2-9am, and then hung out until 1-ish.

Upon arriving home, I got a call from my Buddy, who wanted to meet up for non-al drinks. Went for a jaunt around BWV (lots of walking, but it was a nice day for it) and took in the street fair while we were there. Worked very hard to avoid MT who was also out, and who would NOT have appreciated the interruption, I'm sure. Was very proud of myself for avoiding both the book and shoe sales, and very happy that I didn't avoid the Laura Secord. *grin*

Will be seeing another friend tomorrow, who's coming over to help with yardwork. Still haven't heard from "Kiara"! *hint hint*

Monday is computer purchasing day. Tuesday is movie night with mom. (We're going to see "I, Robot.")

Today was a little strange. I started out with no lunch plans. Then I had lunch plans with J. Then the lunch plans had to be postponed to 1:30, which I couldn't do (since I have to be back at 2 when court resumes). Then I had new lunch plans for 1. Then, at 1, my lunch plans appeared to cancel themselves (ie. I got stood up), so I went back and ate the lunch which I had packed, since I was under the impression originally that I had no lunch plans. Then at 1:40 the lost lunchmate became unlost, so I had ice cream at the Square for 20 minutes. Yeesh. Someone should have made up their mind. lol.

I also had cake, since my boss was in for the day and we missed her b-day. Ice cream and whipped cream (icing) in one afternoon. *urg*

Also, I looked at laptops, since I need a new one for next year. Found one that is 3lbs! I will probably get it, since it also does everything I want it to (namely will play Sims2 -- if it ever comes out!!). I will need help in choosing a new name for it, though, since "I Am A Pirate King" doesn't really work for a computer that could fit in my purse. *grin*

Today was the longest trial scheduling court I have ever sat in. We finished at 12:45PM!!! I didn't have breakfast before, and now I had to skip lunch because my lunch on Wednesdays is 12-1 (didn't make it back to the office until 1). *sigh* I stuffed my face for five minutes in the lunch room and that'll have to hold me for now. It's going to be a long day.

The Altamira concert was so amazingly great! I was incredibly hyper after the show, which is always a good sign. Having played all but one of the pieces before, it was almost like performing in my own concert again. Having friends there (on stage, as well as in the audience with me) made it all even better. Also, I was very impressed with the conductor. I had never seen her conduct before and she was very good: easy to follow and not in the least bit stiff. I wish I could go again, but tonight is movie-and-dinner, so there's no time. *sigh* Ok, now I have to get un-hyper again and finish some work. *waves bouncily at the friendly readers*

MT's birthday was last Saturday, but we're not celebrating until next weekend. I'm sure he doesn't mind, since it gives my parents one more week to buy presents (which they do compulsively up until the actual party day). :)

We did do some stuff over the weekend. I had to get photos taken for my new student card (yay, I'm a law student!) so we went to BW. Walked up the street because we missed the photo place, back down the street, got the photo, and detoured to a bookstore. Bought armfulls of books (I only bought two. They were good. While they lasted. Which was less than 12 hours. *grin*) which included more walking around the store. Then we walked back up to Second Cup, at which point I realized I had done WAY too much walking. Spent the rest of the day in bed. Spent all of yesterday on the couch at home wishing I was in bed but not having the energy to walk up two flights of stairs. I should know better by now.

Oh yes, and I forgot to mention Friday, which involved a last-minute outing to the movies with Bubbles and *no known screenname* for $7, plus a random JazzChiquita sighting on the subway (or a JC hearing, since she and her group were rehearsing for a gig).

MT's psycopathic supervisor signed off on his thesis!! Yay! Now there's the copies to deliver to the defence committee and the defence itself, and then he's done!! (And, yes, five exclamation marks are warranted in this particular situation. So there.)

In other news, I pulled my shoulder again this morning. Too bad it was on the day when I have to do lots of lifting of stacks of files.

Two news clips you've got to read (if you're interested in what I'm interested in, anyway).
1) The play which some of us need to be making plans to see.
2) One of my Team One judges this week made the headlines (more fame by association for me).

So much for having a social life. Got sick again. REALLY sick -- as in enough to miss a day of work. (Which turned out to be a nightmare when I got back this morning, but I think that's mostly worked out now.) Missed my movie and dinner. Don't know if I'll be doing much today, although I'm going to try for a whole day at work. We'll see how I do on the solid food thing at lunch.... which is right now. However, I'm going to have to ask that you push your requests for social events to next week, if possible.

Monday: Altamira concert
Tuesday: tentative rescheduling of the movie and dinner with $
The rest of the week is currently free.

Here we are, back at work. (I'm actually doing work at the moment -- or at least my computer is. It's generating reports, so I can't do any of my other work until it's done.) My social life has gone from nothing back up to lots of stuff. I was going to write it all down in my calendar, but instead I'll share with everyone here... and you can fill in the stuff I have forgotten. *grin*

Tomorrow: dinner and a movie after work with $
Wed: have the feeling that I'm booked to do something, but can't remember what.
Sat: MT's birthday! Yay! Must remember to drag him out to party.
Mon: 8pm, Altamira concert with Quantum Skyline, Bubbles (I assume PI comes with that invitation) and family, and MY family. And anyone else who wants to come, of course.

Also, I know a friend from highschool who currently lives VERY far away is going to be in town. If she is reading this, she should drop me a line and we'll set something up.

Also, person from the Capital who claims to read my blog but has never commented and who is going to be staying somewhere near-ish to where I live with friends of his and wants to drop by should tell me when that is, because he left that out when he messaged the other night.

I love Fridays! Well, except for the excessive number of phone calls, but even that's not too annoying today, because no one is in their offices (took an extra long vacation because of Canada Day) so I don't actually have to talk to anyone. Messages I like. :)

Half my office isn't here either, so we're switching around lunches etc to keep everything covered. The 10th floor lost another of my files, so I did some running around after that. Futile running around, actually, since I still haven't found it. I'm having the lawyer fedex another copy -- and too bad if they don't like paying for it. It's their own fault for filing it late. So there.

Between yesterday and today I have caught up with just about all of my friends! I didn't expect anyone to be online because of the holiday, but it looks like most people chose to stay in for at least part of the day. With luck, I'll be feeling better soon and then I can catch up with everyone in person (or at least everyone within driving distance). Feel free to call dibs on whatever day you prefer, but not until after next week (optimistically assuming I will be 100% by then).
