The good news is, after several e-mails and phonecalls, I got into the law section I needed so that I would be able to stay in the symphony.
The bad news is, that section, according to my online timetable, has a conflict with itself in the Winter term. *shrug* At this point, I am going to assume that enough people will be complaining about it that they will have it fixed by next term. I'm also hoping that the solution won't end up conflicting with symphony.
Considering my summer job, I realize that scheduling can become complicated, but this is getting slightly ridiculous.

In true geek style last night, MotivatedTea and I finished off the OSCC consitution recommendations. The problem: I lost the updated Scoring Committee Duties given out in hard copy at the last meeting. (Too many changing and re-formatting of computers this summer. Ooops!) However, we had a hard copy from the meeting, SO...
The solution: two geeks, two computers, one printed copy, typing speed 80+wpms. Insanely rapid clicking of keys! I don't think I've seen anything funnier.
If anyone is wondering, he beat me (my accuracy needs some work, and backspacing takes time), but in my defence, I had the longer section. Plus I kept giggling. It was (almost) more fun than the mini-LAN party we had after.
For those with interests in OSCC progress, the report as given in an e-mail half a month ago was sent last night. Since I didn't get your comments, I didn't change anything.

A lengthy post re: my recent life will come later today. However, quick details need to be sorted out.
The ballet is tomorrow (Tuesday, August 24) at 8pm. Bubbles, your family is meeting mine there. We need to know if and when you are coming and with whom. QuantumSkyline, you're welcome if you can make it, but please RSVP so I know how many seats to save (same place and time as last time). The invitation also goes out to everyone else who is interested in coming, but I need an RSVP by tonight if you want me to save a seat. Call or e-mail for more info (or drop a request in the comments and I will call or e-mail you.)

It's my birthday today. I'm 23, which everyone at work tells me means I'm "still a baby." I wore my new outfit, which I love, and we (MT, Bubbles and I) went to dim sum for lunch. I got a dvd of Ever After (I guess my friends were getting sick of me complaining that I wanted to watch it and it was out at Blockbuster) and a deck of Worst Case Scenario Cooking cards.
Tomorrow is LW's wedding, so I should probably practice Pachabel again tonight. Bubbles is also visiting tomorrow until 9, when she goes to pick up Phalse (I thought you already did that last year, hence your 1-year anniversary! *grin*). Saturday I believe there is a BBQ at my place, so anyone who wants to is welcome to come. Just don't ask me what time, because I don't know yet. Sunday is Shakespeare in the park, and next week I have to find time for the ballet Altamira concert.
Happy belated birthday to Eva, who was very patient in putting up with my internet problems! I'm still jealous re: the flowers. :)
And that's my news for today. Must get back to work now (even if I don't feel like it).

I finally bought a black suit. Of course, I wasn't planning on buying any suit, but if I had to buy one, at least it turned out to be black. It's really nice, too AND it's size 1!!! I gained a whole size!! Very exciting.
(Definitely more exciting than work at the moment. The last two weeks are going to be pretty slow-going, I think. Not enough work means I have no excuse not to finish the updated procedures manual.)
Good party PI and Bubbles, btw! Any more news on Shakespeare on Sunday?

Just thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and describe myself using the song titles from one band. Here goes: Barenaked Ladies
Are you male or female? I'll Be That Girl
Describe yourself: Crazy Little Tiny Song
How do some people feel about you? Some Fantastic Celebrity
How do you feel about yourself? It's Only Me
Describe your girlfriend/boyfriend/interest/spouse: When You Dream (ie. In your dreams! lol)
Where would you rather be? The Old Apartment
Describe what you want to be: If I Had $1000000...
Describe how you live: Shopping
Describe how you love: Next Time
Share a few words of wisdom: Who Needs Sleep?
Btw, bubbles, if you use the same band, you have to pick different songs. :P

Here's a catch-up post, since I have been negligent over the weekend.
I went to Ikea on Saturday and ordered a new bed/couch/thingy. It's nice and me-sized, so I'll have more space in my room. I just wish I could bring it to school with me, since it's also WAY better than rezbeds.
On Sunday, MotivatedTea and I played our new arrangement of Bach's Air on G (actually titled Aria from Suite No 3). Bubbles, Phalse, and our family were there, and I think it sounded ok. MT and I are playing it for a wedding on the 20th, so I hope it does, anyway.
I also bought the latest J.D. Robb book (and read it twice) and cleaned half of my room. The other half to follow shortly, since we have relatives coming today.

I wanted to add a few other points which I have heard discussed which I felt were pretty strong arguments in this issue.
1) By allowing more lenient sentences for disadvantaged women of a minority race, it gives an additional hammer to those pressuring women to act as drug mules, thereby increasing the number of women who are victimized in this way.
2) Making distinction for race in sentencing is exactly the same thing as the racial profiling which minority communities have been arguing against -- it is based on the assumption that persons of minority are more likely to commit crimes, and therefore should be excused from being given the same consequences (arguably because they are predisposed to a life of crime based on their unique cultural and societal pressures). It seems odd to be arguing against it at one end of a court case (the investigation) and arguing for it at the other (the sentence).
Ultimately, either people should be treated as equal individuals, or they shouldn't. If it turns out that certain groups of people are more often in situations which result in their choosing to commit crimes, then the focus should be on eliminating those situations, but that is the job of the government and of society, not of the courts.
Had dim sum with MT yesterday. Mmmmm so yummy. Also, for those of you who are interested, we now have a sink and a toilet in our bathroom. No lights yet, but I think we'll be done soon. (Hopefully in time for the visit from relatives next week.)
Only a few more weeks until school! Guess I had better start think about packing.

This long weekend wasn't long enough. *sigh* My last one during work, too. Oh well. Four weeks left is a good thing!
Finally got to see Spiderman2, along with a good friend. (That is to say, finally got to see the good friend, whom I haven't seen in awhile.) MotivatedTea came too, of course. The movie was great. The lack of AC was less great, considering the temperature. But the movie was SO good that I don't care. Plus we stopped off for popcorn and ice cream afterwards. Double-double-butter. Mmmm.
Phalse and Bubbles, how's the house-moving going? Heads up for anyone who wants to see us play next Sunday in church. *hint hint* And how's about that party you mentioned? Also, Shakespeare? Gee, someone's going to be busy.
